Sweating and Sizzling

Hey folks. I haven't blogged in a few days...I've been caught up doing other things. Hitting the trail at one of our local parks is one of those things.

When I was younger, I was always very active. Sports, playing and even hitting the track with my family on the weekends. I remained active for a long time afterwards until I hit the real world and had to manage working, running a business (or two) and life.

Being active is completely different from "working out" or "getting in shape". The latter two tend to be temporary. I've "worked out" a lot. I've got in shape many times. But I haven't been active in forever.

I am learning that being active has nothing to do with working out or getting in shape... It's just about living a more interesting life. Do you have an active life?

Now along these trips to the park, funny things happen, you meet different people, you learn new things...and if you're me...you get sunburned.

One day at the park, my fellow blogger pal and I ran into some guys she used to do boot camp with. Let me tell you...she had mentioned these guys before but only in relation to the workouts. When we ran into them...I was pleasantly surprised by the aesthetics.

Since she had never mentioned how absurdly fine these dudes were...I assumed they weren't much to look at. As much of a tomboy as I am...I am not blind or beyond appreciating the male form in all it's splendor.

I was so caught off guard by how delicious these gents looked that I refused to work out with them...I was completely distracted! As I told my pal, they were made like I like 'em. Ha! (My homegirl and I had this saying in college: "They make 'em like I like 'em")

Granted, my blogger pal was focused and seemed oblivious to the heat coming from those gentlemen... I had to respect her for that, but those kind specimen are rarely seen in the places I normally dwell. I honestly thought most of the men in this area were anything but athletic or hot. (I know I am going to get told off...)

I was spoiled in the past, living in an area full of athletic guys... But my revelation after that day at the park was...maybe the area is not so different...but I am.

I'm nowhere near as athletic as I once was...so that may explain why I see more guys who don't like to sweat than those who can slip out of a suit into basketball shorts.

I see more guys here who are slight in build and more into sipping wine and talking about Game of Thrones than hitting an outside court for a pick up game. But that's because of the lifestyle I have fallen into.

Since I am otherwise occupied (did y'all catch what I am throwing?), I'm only looking and admiring lol...but there's nothing wrong with looking right?

On another note, I have learned a hard lesson about becoming active again... Blisters come when breaking shoes in...Sunscreen is very necessary...people have strange conversations in public (a story for another day), and being active really isn't hard work.
