A Tomboy's Guide

Relationship advice book
A Tomboy's Guide available in eBook and paperback

The eBook (pdf only) version of A Tomboy's Guide is here! And it is available on Lulu. So what's the deal with A Tomboy's Guide? Well...here's what it is all about:

A deep dive into the male psyche from a woman who grew up playing rough with the boys. A sometimes funny, sometimes emotional examination of the male-female dynamic and how it impacts relationships between parents and children and men and women.
Uncover the truth behind mommy and daddy issues, the battle of the sexes and the many complexities of the relationships of men and women.
Everyone has relationship problems, but very few have relationship solutions. A Tomboy's Guide is about solutions. This book gets to the heart of the matter:
  • Most folks just do not know how to relate to each other.
  • People seek to blame instead of heal.
  • Confusion and miscommunication drive most conflicts.
  • Relationships do not thrive on expectations of perfection.
  • We all enter new relationships like shards of glass when we carry with us past hurts, disappointments, and blown expectations.
I will be honest with you, I get tired of people complaining about relationships without seeking solutions for their issues. If you have read this blog for a while, you know I am a family law attorney...so I deal with family issues.

For almost seven years, I had a relationship advice column, so I dealt with relationship issues of every kind (romantic, friendship, parental).

I have had guy friends and girl friends my whole life, and they always have issues! (They will tell you the same is true for me...LOL).
When I tell you, I have heard it all....I have literally heard it all! From women who knowingly married sex offenders to men who are living double lives. I HAVE HEARD IT ALL!!! Some things have been unnerving and others laughable.

When a guy has a girl best friend, he learns to see
relationship problems from a different perspective.
A Tomboy's Guide
You may be shocked to learn that men send in most of the questions that I receive about relationships. (Well...you really shouldn't be surprised given the name of the blog and all...) Whether it is an email about whether he is too young to be serious in relationships, a text asking for restaurant suggestions for a first date or social media DMs with concerns about marriage, a guy is always hitting me up with relationship dilemmas.

The relationship issues are hardly ever new. I've heard most several times before from different people, both men and women. (If everyone is going through the same things...why are these issues always repeated? Like for real... ain't nobody learning anything? It's like the Road Runner always hitting Wile E. Coyote with that ACME bomb...you'd think, he'd figure it out after a while.)

Let me be clear, I do not look down on people for having relationship questions, issues, problems and/or concerns. We all have them.

I just tend not to be the sympathetic shoulder, most times. I am the... "OKAY...SO WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT IT" shoulder.

I am all about having and maintaining healthy relationships. Most people spend an inordinate amount of time trying to find a relationship without ever caring what kind of relationship it is.

Far too many people either encourage you to flee when things get rocky or stay when someone means you no good. You can actually have healthy relationships with friends, family, and romantic partners where everyone has a voice that is heard and respected and everyone feels loved and cared for, but it takes work.

Relationships are about mutual work, sacrifice and respect. You do not have to drag on in misery just to say you have a relationship.

So if you have relationship problems (parental, familial, friend, or romantic), I'm going to politely suggest that you get this book and lets get down to finding some solutions!
