Boyz II Men, 98 Degrees and NKOTB in Charlotte

So...that seat in the pic is not my seat. LOL
I was in the wrong section.

The Package Tour came to Charlotte this week. It features Boyz II Men, 98 Degrees and headliners New Kids On The Block.  I did a review for Examiner.com. I also chatted with a soldier whose husband went to the concert for her after losing a bet. She's currently stationed in Afghanistan. Check out her story.

My seat was fantastic, thanks to the marketing director for Time Warner Cable Arena. But the funny thing is, I sat in the wrong seat initially... After BIIM performed, a couple came up to me saying I was in the wrong seat. Mind you, I was directed to the seat by the staff.

I asked, are you sure? Ask security, they sent me here. Not thinking to look overhead and see where I actually was sitting. The guy asked an usher and the usher directed me and another lady to the appropriate section... Yep...I was slightly embarrassed, but it wasn't my fault.

lights made picture taking impossible.

Anyway...the show. I was susrprised that Boyz II Men was the opening act, and could not remember any 98 Degrees songs except Una Noche. Boyz II Men were still dope. I did miss Michael McCrary being in the group though. He is the baritone who used to do the speaking parts.

Having never gone to a concert at TWC, I was unfamiliar with the set up. There is a stage all the way to the right if you're sitting in sections 113-115. When BIIM started singing, I had no idea where they were because center stage was right in front of me. It was funny. So I'm sitting there like, I know they didn't hologram them in like Tupac at Cochella. Look...I was tired...So I was a bit off that night LOL

BIIM's performance was good. Their voices haven't changed at all. They hit every note with no pitch issues whatsoever. Then those jokers started diddy boppin... I think Wanya got a little out of breath LOL

Something I didn't know about them is that Wanya and Shawn are both members of the Black Hebrew Israelites or something like that. And Shawn's former girlfriend appeared on Tough Love with Steven Ward and his mama JoAnn.

98 Degrees was up next. By that time I was in my proper seat, next to a guy that writes for the local newspaper, I was already tired. The guy from the paper did not look like he was having a good time. But this concert was geared toward the ladies. There was a lot of muscle flexing and ab showing to come. The ladies loved it...


Then came the headliners: NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK. Let me tell you, their performance was definitely memorable. They had special effects, costume changes, pop locking, and everything else you could imagine. Donnie Wahlberg will be 44 on August 19th and somehow manages to take his shirt off without being the least bit embarrassed. The dude still has a very serious six pack!

The only one who really looks his age is Danny Wood. But even he could still break dance and spin on his head. LOL

Oh let me tell you another funny thing... Donnie was on the floor singing when a fan came up to hug him. Instead of a hug, she got a tongue lashing...umm he kissed her all hard dead in the mouth... YIPES!
