Day 2 MSNBC, protesters and politicians: YBBG at Democratic National Convention 2012

My peek at the Morning Joe Show.
That's Andrea Mitchell in the red dress.
September 4, 2012: I had the bright idea that I could rise early to catch the train in order to be Uptown by 6 a.m.  Let me just say, the train had come and gone a couple of times before I made it to the station. I waited for the 6:15 train, but it never came!

Why was I up so early? Well...I wanted to get to one of my favorite restaurants, Black Finn (I had part of my birthday party there a couple of years ago), to watch the Morning Joe Show.  I watch the show virtually every morning. I actually like the back and forth between Mika and Joe...though sometimes each can get on my nerves in a very special way. I actually like them both and all of the regulars on the show.

By the time I made it to the Epicentre Uptown, I had to get a ticket to wait to enter the show. Apparently, some very smart people had arisen at 4 a.m. and stood in line to go in.

My Morning Joe button, with a
shout out to my hometown and current
residence.

Part of the MSNBC experience
at Epicentre. I think it was in Enso.

So I did not get into the show, but I did have a little bit of the "MSNBC Experience" within a waiting hub at the Epicentre.

There I was able to have a custom made button with my Twitter handle, take a picture (that turned out horrible lol) with the cast of the Morning Joe show, and watch the show with a continental breakfast.

It was cool to walk around and see the way they had laid out the place. The hosts were so very pleasant. I wonder if they were the employees of the restaurant. I actually wondered what came of the people who worked in the businesses that were closed during the DNC.

All of this happened before breakfast...

After all the walking I did...I only
grabbed juice from the table.

One of my colleagues and I spent a lot of time walking back and forth from the Epicentre to where we are working this week. I actually met him over at the MSNBC Experience. He's a politics junkie like me. (Oh...and he's not the one "singing" in the video LOL).

With all of the buildings being locked down, we virtually walked a country mile to get into a building that is directly behind the one where we are working. My breakfast burrito (veggie) and cheese grits were worth all of the walking.

My veggie burrito was not wrapped too tight.

Cheese grits.

What I saw on the street...

I saw a number of politicians and news people while on the street...I also saw Marcus Samuelsson from the Foodnetwork, but it happened so quickly that I did not get a picture.

A drag show. I'm digging the pink boombox.

Roland S. Martin from CNN/TVOne

Johnathan Capehart from MSNBC

Congressman Barney Frank

Congressman John Lewis

One of the many protesters I saw
while out and about.

Buttons from the Morning Joe show.

Taping of the Chris Matthews show.

I still cannot figure out what this is that
the guy is holding. He was kind enough
to pose for a pic with his Obama head...

Something funny that happened...

So while my colleagues and I were out and about, the singer did something that instigated my telling him to be careful or he would get hemmed up by secret service. Well...what do ya know? After we returned to work, he went back out that night and got hemmed up by authorities! HA! But that's his story to tell.

I finished the night off watching some of the speeches from the comfort of my living room.
