Men's fashion with a woman's touch

My colleague has been bugging me about having my blogging pal over at Nikki Panache create some custom bowties for him from her Boldties company. He asked that I go select some fabrics for him because he felt I "got" what he was looking for look wise. I told him I would, and to trust my judgment. After only knowing him a short time, I could already read his tastes.
That's the one thing about men's fashion, a woman's touch can take it to another level. Granted, I am a woman who appreciates a certain type of man. I don't really do fru fru men. LOL. By fru fru, I mean guys who are waaaaaaaaaaay overboard when it comes to their styles. Think Lil Wayne in zebra leggings...that is too much for my taste.
I prefer a man look like a man, and wear men's clothing. I like guys who are conservatively dressed, for the most part. However, I do know how to fall back and allow a guy to embrace his own "look". This particular guy loves colors, but he still wanted to be ultra masculine in the selections.
I had that in mind as I became almost overwhelmed at the fabric selections in Mary Jo's in Gastonia, NC. OMG! As I waited for Nikki to arrive, I snapped pics of fabrics I thought my colleague would like and sent them via texts.
He was so excited about the fabric selections I made, that he had trouble figuring out what he wanted. But after a few deliberations we came up with some ideas for his first round of ties. He's bold, yet conservative. We agreed on some swatches that married bold colors with some basic solids, as well as some patterns that were conservative in their own rights.

Colorful fabrics. My colleague is bold and conservative. It works. |

Nikki made the first of several bowties in a really neat four-way bowtie creation seen below. It can be worn in solid charcoal gray, with the pink pattern, or blending both. She is most definitely a great hand at creating these bold ties...
Do men really need a woman's touch when it comes to fashion?
