Nordstrom Rack haul

This little black dress by +Kenneth Cole New York
called "The Amy Dress"
has date night written all over it!

About a week ago, I took a short little trip to +Nordstrom Rack. I remember blogging about this location when it first opened back in 2011. That day it was cold and the line was longer than a country mile.

That looks like a successful style hunt to us! You can never go wrong with a LBD. Hope to see you back again soon!

This time, it was easier to get in, but extremely difficult to get out of +Nordstrom Rack . I was like a kid in a candy store. I saw so many things I wanted including some lovely bags from +Marc Jacobs Intl ...but I passed on those.

I eventually found myself in an aisle of dresses, where I came across the little black number you see at the top. I immediately thought: DATE NIGHT!

Little Black Dress Features that I know he'll like...

It's sheer!!!

Note that the outer layer of the dress
is sheer. It has an opaque
sheath underneath.
The Amy dress by +Kenneth Cole New York has a sheer overlay. Sheer is apparently hot right now, as both Jennifer Hudson and Kim Kardashian keep popping up in sheer pieces.

for her new movie.

It's easy to put on...

I love the little details like the two pockets, and the satin-like
detailing where the buttons are.

I love the fact that this dress is a button up/t-shirt style dress. The details of little pockets and satin-like fabric surrounding the buttons is great too. This dress is a little baggy, but I like it. I took a fashion quiz the other day that said my style is Boho-glam. I'll rock with that. The plus factor of the button up style is that it won't take long to get it on... So that will make getting ready for date night a breeze.

It accentuates the positives!

Dress cinches at the waist
Because this hot little number cinches at the waist it helps define the curves on a curvaceous woman. Hip to waist ratio is important when it comes to physical attraction for men...Did anybody ever tell you that? Check out what was said about a study on curves on askmen.com:

MRI scans of the observers’ brains when they looked at curvy women showed activity in the same reward centers activated by pleasurable drugs. The men were getting a kind of high from the experience.
Crazy, right? But true apparently. So this is another point as to why this is a great date night dress. Since it is fall...I know a perfect red faux leather jacket that would go great with this!

Moving on to another dress I picked up that incorporates the semi-sheer factor...

Orange is the new black

High-low Eileen Fisher dress (back view). It is semi-sheer
and comes with the little orange shell beside it.
I know high-low was a Spring-Summer trend, but I'm one of those people who will wear whatever she wants when she feels like it and say bump the trend. I love how this orange (officially the color is dubbed "firefly") dress looks on. I actually wore it to dinnerwith my blogger pals @nikkipanache, @mofochronicles, and @blitzandglam.

I have fallen deeply for the color orange as it great against my skin tone...which, according to NP, is the color of peanut butter (I laughed really hard when she said that...). I also love the back of this dress, described as:

Pleated silk georgette drapes gracefully from the back yoke of a fluid jersey tank dress with a dipped hem accentuating the breezy movement.

High-low effect seen from the front.

Where might I wear this dress? Well...EVERYWHERE! I know it's Fall and all, but I can easily toss on some boots and a jacket and voila! This dress is a hit! I like it a lot.

I also picked up a staple...

I know I have at least four six black skirts if not more. But they are all different. I saw this one and felt I needed it...I mean I do have to switch up the courtroom look from time to time. It's just a simple pencil skirt. Unfortunately, I could not find my size so it is a bit big. I figured I'd just get it tailored a bit.

Which reminds me of something... +Nordstrom's has this rewards program that allows you to use their alterations department for free and gives you points that turn into Nordstrom dollars.  The associate who rang me up told me about it. You have to have a Nordstrom's credit or debit card and use it for purchases. Yes, Nordstrom has its own bank as well.

Anyway...that was my trip to +Nordstrom Rack . I may be heading to +Nordstrom's for the launch of +Topshop in a couple of days with my blogging crew. We'll see...and I'll let you all know about it!
