Baggage Claim movie review

Is it me, or is Paula Patton the same ditzy high clueless character in all her movies? I get it, she's pretty, but between Patton and Gabrielle Union, I wonder which has had any acting lessons or do they just play themselves. Are there no other Black actresses needing work?

Yes, I saw Baggage Claim and it was a cute movie with a cliche romantic comedy ending. There were times I wished for more dialogue from Jennifer Lewis, and did not get Jill Scott as the thirsty Blanche Devereaux style character. (Don't y'all remember Blanche on Golden Girls?)

There were funny moments and sweet moments... I took notes (skip this photo for any spoilers).

Paula's character, Montana, is a flight attendant with two best friends, Sam the gay guy, and Gail the loose chick. Montana's mama has been married five times and now her little sister is engaged. At 30, Montana has no prospects. Her super fairy tale current interest, Graham (played by Boris Kudjoe), is literally too good to be true. She finds out how crappy he is by hiding in a trashcan at his house.

After that went south her desperation to find a man before her sister's wedding skyrocketed.
So Sam devised an elaborate plan to snag Montana a man by using the airport personnel to track flights taken by all of Montana's exes and allowing her to bump into them. These interactions were funny.

They included cameos by comedians and other celebs like Rickey Smiley as the curbside check-in guy, Nephew Tommy as the counter guy, and Lala Anthony as the boarding pass lady.

I won't go all the way into the details of the movie. The concept was cute and it is a short movie. There are funny moments and neat little words of wisdom.

Derek Luke's character William delivered a gem about marriage:

Magic isn't in getting married it's in staying married...
