Does where you get your paycheck matter?

Does a person's employer make him/her less eligible in the dating world? (Photo from NYDailyNews.com of Lindsay Lohan) |
The other day, a lady posed the following question:
Ladies, be honest! Guys vice versa, if a gentleman walked out of McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell, from working there, asked you out, to a nice dinner, visit his church one day, would you accept a date???
Hmmm...
I remember when I graduated law school and later passed the bar, my brother had a talk with me. He said, "You need to make sure you get a guy who is on your level." By that I guess he meant a professional fella.
Truth be told I have mostly gone out with blue collar type guys...give or take a couple of guys who worked in education or one or two who owned businesses or who played sports professionally.
Money didn't matter much when it came to who I would go out with. I didn't give it much consideration. But, that being said...dating a guy who solely worked fries or the counter at McDonald's is not in my cards.
I worked at Hardee's as a teenager...that paycheck was enough to keep some clothes in my closet and gas in my car...but that was it. Life is rough, and it costs to live it.
In a world of mortgages, student debt, daycare bills, medical expenses, insurance premiums and car notes, I know that money matters.
When you're dating for fun, it is fine to date whoever for what ever reason. But when you're considering joining your life with someone, doesn't where he/she gets his/her paycheck or whether or not he/she has income at all matter?
Personally, I don't see anything wrong with a person being gainfully employed in any legitimate industry, but I need you to make a grown person's paycheck or have more than one legitimate source of income flowing in.
What do you think? Does where you get your paycheck matter?

P.S. I'm going to pose this question myself and see the results I get...
