Protect grown men from underage seductresses

R. Kelly promo pic tweeted out by RCA records...
I was 12, I was about 5'7" tall. I was athletic, having played basketball for a while, and probably physically looked older than I was. Only because I was tall. I'm sure I still had a baby-face. There was this boy who would ride up on his bike when I would go visit my relatives.

Usually he would just chit chat. Then one day he asked for my phone number. I told him I wasn't allowed to talk to boys on the phone. He asked how old I was and I told him I was 12, then asked his age. He said he was 16. Oooh I couldn't wait to get back home and to my middle school the next day to brag about how this high school boy tried to talk to me.

Another visit to my relatives came and like clockwork he road up on his bike. It just so happened that one of my uncles was walking down the street. He came over to where we were standing and went off. The dude who said he was sixteen was actually 21 or 22 and my uncle was hot! He ran the boy off and asked me what I was doing talking to him. Then he informed me that my alleged high school suitor was actually old enough to be a college graduate. Let me tell you...I was not happy. I felt disgusted.

Why would a grown man look at a little girl like me...like that?! Ewwwww... My bragging rights disappeared and I felt shame. What in the world could he have found attractive about me? I was definitely athletic, but didn't have any womanly curves to save my life.

Guys who were older than me were always hitting on me. I wasn't overly developed...heck I probably could have gone without a bra well into my twenties. LOL...

I said all this to say...I don't know what grown men see in little girls. Twelve year olds...14 year olds... 16 year olds... whatever... What brought all this on?

Well...one thing was the revelation that Paul Walker's girlfriend was 16 when they started up and he was 33. She, allegedly, wasn't the only sixteen year old he dated either. His most recent female best friend was a former paramour and was also sixteen when they dated, according to reports. Then Robert Kelly is back on the scene, and Pandora's box has been opened concerning him.

R. Kelly is trying to make a come back...but will he? Some people are saying that people just won't let Kels be great. I mean, he's a genius and people are hatin' right? No one has ever done with music what Kels has done, according to his fans.

Sorry...I'm not one of them.

To me. Robert Kelly is nothing but a predator who has violated young girls since he married Aaliyah when she was fifteen. You cannot tell a lot of his fans that though. To them, Kels could do no wrong. It's everybody's fault but his that he was caught up in scandal. His alleged victim from over a decade ago began some kind of relationship with the grown man when she was 12 years old. My uncle was there for me at the moment he needed to be...apparently no one was there for Kels's girls.

She's not a little princess...she's a vixen. She's fast and acting too grown for her age. She should have known better than to be all up in that grown man's face. He's a man, she should have stayed in a child's place. If her parents don't mind, why should I?

I will never forget when the allegations against R. Kelly popped up. A lot of people...too many of them women...had the above to say about the little girl at the center of the issue. I mean MOST OF THEM were women! Somehow the girl was at fault and R. Kelly's grown behind was a victim. Didn't make any sense to me then, doesn't make any sense to me now.

For me, he was guilty. Granted, I believed he was guilty because I already thought he was a pervert. I was never a fan of his music. Quite frankly, I thought he'd stolen Aaron Hall's style...though I later learned they came out at the same time.

Anyway, I wasn't a fan. Back to the point. Recently a reporter who investigated the abuse allegations against Kelly wrote a scathing series of articles that are linked in an article for the Village Voice. Jim DeRogatis went all the way in about how the recording industry basically ignored Kelly's nasty behavior.

Apparently there were multiple underage girls who fell victim to Kels and piss poor parenting. There were payoffs and other tapes. Yet people still support him. They say, "oh, I separate the man from the music..." How do you do that when your money was going to pay off parents whose little girls were his prey?

Why are celebrities given a pass on things normal folks would get fried for? Why is it that people had so many harsh things to say about the little girls...and wanted to run to R. Kelly's defense? They  acted as though the grown man needed protection and the little girls were in the wrong. Something is sick and twisted about that.....
