Parenting in the social media age

Tommy Jordan's daughter did not expect dear ol' dad to get a glimpse of the scathing letter she wrote about her parents on Facebook.  (Check out the story here http://www.facebook.com/tommyjordaniii/posts/299559803434210)

Now, let's be serious here...and as impartial as possible.  I used to make similar complaints about my parents (under my breath...without the curse words...LOL).

As a kid, you get a little frustrated with going to the kitchen to get someone water, whilst they luxuriate on the couch.  Or being called all the way from the other side of the house, while you try to sleep, to get the remote control that is two steps away from the caller.  Yeah...it was annoying as heck... (I'm sorry mama...and please don't tell pop, because I know you're reading this LOL)

But as you get older, you tend to understand more.  At 15 you most certainly will not.  But give it a decade, and you'll finally get it.

Check out what Mr. Jordan has to say to his daughter in this video.  NOW THAT'S PARENTING 101.

What his daughter doesn't understand is, her parents are teaching her discipline, how to follow directions, work ethic, respect, and a myriad of other things...

She's too tired to have a life...which may not be a bad thing...especially if the life she wants to have could lead her down the wrong path.

Shoot if she's too tired to do anything after 10 pm...that means she's not out and about running the streets.  Like my own daddy told me (after I came home extraordinarily late after prom) NOTHING IS OPEN AFTER 12 PM but hospitals, jails (and some not so nice other things...).

Dad is doing what he has to do...parent his child.  Hopefully she'll understand soon.
