YBBG Guilty pleasures: Reality TV

At this point you guys know that REALITY TV is one of my guilty pleasures.  The above clip is from the next season of VH 1's Basketball Wives, the original version.  I've told you before, I grew up watching soaps.  It started with General Hospital and All My Children.  Then it rolled over to CBS Soaps...all of them.

Reality TV, somewhat took the place of those soaps for me.  Reality TV offered everything I am not: Confrontational, Ridiculous, Materialistic, Whorish, Childish, Crazy (okay well some may say I can be a lil brash and potentially hot headed...but I'm just saying...).

Now it seems like all that I loved about Reality TV has become everything I hate. (I know some of my readers are cheering this as they feel that Reality TV makes "us" look bad...I still don't agree with this...it just makes the chicks on there look bad, as well as whomever chooses to emulate them...).

This clip explains it all in a nutshell. Let me get this out of the way...I cannot stand the character that is Evelyn Lozada.  I don't know if this is representative of who she is off camera...but on camera. CANNOT STAND THIS CHICK. I do not like the fighting ALL THE TIME. Or the unabashed embracing of foolishness.  Basically I cannot stomach it anymore.  Small doses were titillating.  Large quantities are giving me bubble guts.

I seriously am very critical and accepting of people at the same time.  (Seriously...it is a conundrum. I don't understand it either. But it is true.)  It is difficult with Evelyn.

The reasons I cannot stand her:

  • She is always in someone's face. ALWAYS.  Yapping like a dang miniature dog.
  • Then she's loose and doesn't know it. I mean...c'mon you're sleeping with married men and tossin' draws at men left and right. That means you're loose.  And it isn't her looseness that bothers me as much as her failure to acknowledge it.
  • Then she turns around and wants to be acknowledged as classy. NOOOO You's a nasty woman!  I seriously would not drink a glass of water from her if I were dying of thirst in the desert. Which is a dang shame! (I would raise an eyebrow and say...ummm yeah... I don't know where your hands have been...)

Everyone and anyone can change, who wants to change.  I can understand if she is shown growing through this image and becoming something from this weakened state...but no...she just rolls around in the muck and filth...lavishing and luxuriating and such. Eeeewww... I hope this is just a character she plays on TV.  IF she is this person in real life...she has a lot going on inside that spills out in such a putrid way.  And it is sad. I hate to see anyone suffer this way...and hope that she finds some enlightenment someway somehow.

But anyway...if she is going to be the center of this season... I WILL PASS! It's great that Jennifer Williams FINALLY SAW THE LIGHT.  As Eric told her from the get go... "You don't know Ev... I know Ev."  Seems like he was 100% right.

Might I add that the Housewives franchise is also on my list of "pull the plug"? I mean these shows are killing families (the families of the people on the shows).  How many marriages have ended? Deaths have occurred? OMG. It is too much! Reality TV might be cursed.  Can we get some good wholesome sitcoms back? (Yes...I may be jumping on that bandwagon now...lol)

I have fought tooth and nail to hold onto my love of Reality TV... but alas...it is dying...sitting on life support right now.  The only show I actually like is TI and Tiny's Family Hustle. Go figure. LOL
