Hot looks for homecoming
Homecoming season is in full swing. That means football, fiestas, fashion and old flames. One thing that comes up every year I've gone to homecoming at UNC is: WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO WEAR?
For something that lasts less than a week, homecoming is a big fashion event. Just ask anyone who went to NC A&T... They call their homecoming the GHOE (Greatest Homecoming On Earth), and what to wear is often a bigger question than where to stay and who their opponent is for the game. Having gone to UNC Chapel Hill, a PWI (Predominately White Institution), I can tell you that "fashion" was not as high on the list of priorities during regular school days on the yard, unlike at our neighboring HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities).
However, nightlife and homecoming has always been our time to shine.

Homage to my alma mater UNC Chapel Hill |

Peep the videos from GHOE 2011, and a joint affair with both my alma maters UNC (Undergrad) and NCCU (law school).
Enough with background. This blog is about what to wear for homecoming. There are so many homecoming activities that you have to be prepared for any and everything...from high temperatures to low... family functions... to evening events... and even the football game (or band extravaganza if you went to any HBCU in NC besides WSSU, where they actually care about the football games hahahaha!)
Daytime Activities (family events, tailgating, football game)
Most day time events are about comfort. My campus at UNC was rather large and hilly, that means a lot of walking. But you can be both cute and comfy at the same time. And don't forget to have some school spirit while you're at it. Sneakers, flats, and/or boots can be worn with any of the below looks.
These are some casual daytime looks. Dark washed denim sporty and casual (hoodie and t-shirt from ladyfanatics.com, cowl neck shirt and jacket from meeshandmia.com) |
Little Black Dress Options
Every year at my homecoming we have had an all black event. Trying to put together black options gets a little tricky at times, and bland sometimes. So here are some black options that include mesh, leather and sequins. A good pair of heels or even boots with the leather pieces will take you to another fashion level. (But keep some ballerina slippers in your purse.)
Top two dresses are from Nordstrom (I think ha!), the
second leather dress is DVF, and the second sequined
number is from Express.
