Body LANGUAGE

I love expression.  I love words.  I love music.
I love dance. I love art.

I love these things because I believe strongly in the power of communication/expression.  In 100 Common Sense Dating Tips, I suggest that people try something new.  This includes new forms of expression.  In the video above the music and the dance marry two new, but very old things.  It is contemporary.  But music and body movement are antiques.

Dance is as old as ancient African civilizations.  Body movements have been used to tell stories in Choctaw and other native tribes.  The rhythm of the dance reveals intense emotions and it is beautiful.  Dance is a language.

From breaking to stepping to ballet to line dancing, the rhythm moves from the mind through the body to the eyes and ears of those watching.

Do you see the intensity in the relationship between the two dancers?  You can see a lot in their body language (Ha! Body LANGUAGE...it speaks to you...).

Women often have a warranted complaint that men do not express themselves.  Why? Because men do not express themselves in ways that women understand.  Men express themselves in ways that other men understand.  That is fine when dealing with your boys.  Not so much when dealing with your lady.

What women have to do is learn to read body language.  Learn to watch the movements.  The actions of men tell the tale.   And what men have to do is learn to behave in ways that are not confusing and verbally express those things that they wish to convey. (Paul Carrick Brunson has a quote in 100 Common Sense Dating Tips, that speaks to the power of body language.)

Just as often, men are confused by women.  They tune out what women say, because they typically don't like the cadence of the delivery.  Men focus on a woman's actions, which are often even more confusing because her actions don't explain a lot.  Men have to open up their ears to receive the language that women use.  And women have to not mask their true feelings through actions that don't align with their words.

Women are music.  Men are dance.

*This video is from So You Think You Can Dance featuring contestant Sasha and last year's winner Kent.  The music is Fool of Me by Meshell Ndegeocello*

Thanks to Aishah for the putting me on to the vid!

You're very welcome! Great article! I've watched this dance at least three times already and I'm still like WOW! I love the fact that you really can't tell which of them "made a fool" of whom. They are both expressing such wonderful emotions and reactions off of one another! Just a quick correction, Kent was last season's runner-up.

Wonderful learn, I just handed this onto a colleague who was doing a little analysis on that. And he really bought me lunch as a result of I discovered it for him smile So let me rephrase that: Thanks for lunch! Anyway, in my language, there aren’t much good supply like this.
