Burt's Bees skin care

Makeup masking the flawed skin

Underneath that amazing makeup job by Ikeya, lies the one thing that has challenged me since I was a teenager.  My skin.  I have extremely sensitive skin. And it is prone to breakouts from almost anything.  Food allergies, contact with bacteria producing surfaces, facial cleansers and acne treatments...you name it!

In the summer it clears up. In the winter it flares up.  I've become so used to it, that I don't really care until I have a major flare up like I did recently.  After eating something I was allergic to, my face exploded.  And unfortunately I had scheduled a photo shoot to have some professional pictures taken. Thankfully the makeup artist was beyond fabulous!

I have tried almost everything known to man...Proactiv-FAIL...Noxzema-Breaks me out...Clearasil-Works for a while then stops...Nutrogena-Not so bad...Clinique-Didn't work at all...Melaleuca Natural Acne product-Burned my skin (I was so distraught when this happened. My skin literally dried to a crisp. I had dark patches all over my skin that no amount of scrubbing could rid...).

So recently I tried out some of Burt's Bees skin care products.  Below is what I've used:

I use this product in the mornings for a deep cleaning. It is thick and creamy.  After rinsing it leaves your face feeling smooth and it opens your pores, so there is a cool refreshing feeling.  I did it without following with moisturizer one time and that was a mistake. My skin was dry and flaky. However it is great with the day cream.  It is 97% natural. And I honestly love it.

It retails at $8.00

After reaching out to Burt's Bees they sent me this product (along with three that will follow) to try out.  It is the Radiance Day Creme.  It smells fantastic.  It has royal jelly in it and seriously a little dab will do ya!  It feels watery going on, but it gives your skin a glow.  It helped soften some rough patches and feel the difference in my skin's texture.

The only down side for this product is the price point.  Which really isn't that bad, but it retails at $18.00 for 2 oz.  Because you don't have to use a lot, it may be worth the investment.

I use this daily radiance cleanser at night before bed.  It is light and a little liquid, runny.  I use a couple of drops and it makes a nice lather.   It is a light cleanser.  The smell is pretty nice, and it cleans well, though I like the chamomile and soap bark cleanser a lot more.

Since I started using it in this regimen, the large cystic pimples I had have disappeared. And my pores have shrank.  My mom told me something about honey having antibiotics in it. And I think the royal jelly is derived from something close to honey. (Royal Jelly — made of nectar, pollen, flower parts, vitamins, minerals, bee hormones and other natural ingredients.)
It retails at 10.00, and I think it is 99% natural.

The radiance night creme isn't my favorite. I use it after the cleanser at night. It doesn't smell good and it is a little sticky. It makes my face feel tight. But I think it actually does what the Burt's Bees site says:

"While you sleep, nourishing Royal Jelly naturally replenishes your delicate facial skin with essential amino acids, antioxidants, vitamins and key minerals. Almond oil deeply moisturizes while rosemary and pine tree extracts stimulate skin for an invigorating overnight treatment." The price point is $18.00.  And like the day creme, a little dab will do.

All in all, I really like the Burt's Bees skin line. I left out one product they sent me, it was the Citrus Facial Scrub.  I haven't used it yet because it has nuts in it.  I have food allergies and some nuts are included in it. I have to double check with my doctor to make sure I can use this scrub.

I will honestly say my skin has improved using these products. I think I may want to try the Acne line, but as I said above, I have very sensitive skin. So I'm not sure if it will be gentle enough for me.

I tried Burts skin products. They made my face feel like there was a thick film left after washing it off.

Which products did you use? I didn't have that experience with the ones listed above.
