I read this article on US Weekly about Gabby's daddy, Staff Sgt. Timothy Douglas, because I wanted to know where he was after seeing him at the Olympic Trials. From what I've read over the web, Sgt. Douglas has been deployed several times, the first being when Gabby was 9 years old.

The articles I've read about Gabby's daddy, spoke of the sacrifices the family made, and how he would rise early to take her to gymnastics practice. I'm sure getting up early is not unusual for a military man. I could not imagine having that heavy on my heart, while also training to become an elite athlete! Although Gabby's parents are divorcing, they both support her, and that is a blessing. This made me think of how great it is to have a daddy in your life, no matter how near or far.

Earlier this week I was in court with a client who fought for joint custody of his children. I have seen this particular parent go hard for two years to stake his position in his children's lives.

He knows how proud I am to know him and to have represented him. Seeing Gabby's dad with that flag at the Olympic trials just reinforced my desire to see more little girls be the twinkle in their dads' eyes.

As somebody's daughter...I know it is sooooo important to know that your daddy loves you, and is there when you need him. I think daddies should get more support and love than they typically receive. So three cheers for daddies all over the world!
