Above is the video of Chad Johnson appearing in his Broward County bond hearing for allegedly head-butting Evelyn Lozada last night.

Of course folks are taking sides and waging twitter wars over what went down between the reality TV super heroes. But who didn't see something foolish happening between them...sooner rather than later?

Who knows what happened? He said he accidentally head-butted her...she says he did it on purpose after  they argued, when she found a receipt for condoms in his car.

Either side could be telling the truth. It may have been accidental on his part, and she may have believed he did it on purpose. Is there really a side to take in a relationship you only see on TV?

I don't know who did what, why or how. I have seen enough IRL (in real life) and in court to know that you don't know anything about people's lives outside of your eyesight. Honestly this is just another titillating bit of juicy gossip and random BS to blog, tweet, and talk about.

Meanwhile, you have people around you who are actually being abused, but you won't say a word about it. Why is that?

Women and men live in fear of their safety every day, yet no one wants to do anything to resolve the issues. Then let a Rihanna or an Evelyn Lozada hit the news wire and no one can get enough of it. When I lived in Durham, I volunteered with a group called Project Together, representing DV victims pro-bono.

One of my clients was an elderly woman who was abused by one of her own children. This stuff is real for too many people. I could go on about the women whose funerals I have gone to who were killed by husbands and boyfriends. Or the men I've represented who were violated by the women in their lives.

But what's the point? No one will listen...no one would read about it...and no one would care.
