Gabby Douglas was the most consistent of the ladies bringing in really good scores on all events. She even killed the balance beam. Go Gabby!!! She along with Aly Raisman will compete in the all around for the top individual gymnast.

McKayla Maroney had a perfect vault that should have garnered her a perfect score. Somehow the judges found a way to take minor deductions that did not appear to exist. Her vault was flawless! Tim Daggett yelled, "TEN!!!" when she hit the floor. I guess he momentarily forgot the scoring system had changed. LOL
The vault was the first event for the US Gymnasts and they all did so well that they catapulted to the lead of the pack. That lead was insurmountable.
The Russians tried to make a comeback, getting as close as 4/10ths of a point after a great rotation on the uneven bars, where the US girls struggled a little. But the US only had to score in the 10s as their last gymnast took to the floor routine, which the Russians boggled badly.

Aly Raisman was the last on the floor and she put it all out there. Kyla Ross had a solid performance on uneven bars, and she was a master on the beam. Jordyn Wieber let the world see why she was the world champ coming into the Olympics. Unfortunately the new Olympic rules will only allow two gymnasts from the same team to compete in the all around competition. Otherwise Jordyn would probably join Aly and Gabby.
Good luck Gabby and Ally!! Go for that gold! My almost two year old niece will be watching. Don't disappoint her...she already thinks she can cut flips! LOL
