Is Jerry Sandusky untouchable?

How long will Gerald Sandusky continue to get away with his
crimes?
It still amazes me that the young men were able to speak out after what has more than likely been a tortured time dealing with the remnants of their assaults.  Making it even more difficult is the way Jerry Sandusky has been allowed to get away with it.
1998- Police investigations involving both Pennsylvania police and Penn State Campus police.  Sandusky admitted to groping a child in a shower.  The DA did not press charges because they would have a hard time proving "Sexual gratification", which is part of the statute.  So even a confession did not get this monster locked up.  He told the mother of the young man he violated that he wished he were dead.  I'm sure the victims that followed, wishes he had followed through on his wish.  He continued to go free. But he is banned from the high school where the young man attends due to his admission of guilt.  Yet his charity allows him to continue working there, around other boys.
2000-  A Korean War vet who worked as a janitor at Penn State, saw Sandusky orally raping a little boy in the shower (yes, this is before the McQueary incident), and told his supervisor as well as coworkers.  The supervisor told him who he could report it too, if he wanted to.  But no one reported it because they did not want to lose their jobs.  Mind you, Sandusky was released from his position at Penn State in 1999, but still had emeritus status and access to the buildings, an office, and keys to the football facilities.  So once again, he got away with it.  His power and influence were quite obvious.  So again...nothing happens.
2002- Mike McQueary sees Sandusky anally raping a young boy who looks about ten years old, in the showers in the same building where the 2000 attack occurred.  Does he run in and stop the rape? No.  He runs out.  McQueary tells his dad.  They don't call police.  The next day they tell Coach Paterno.  He does not call the police.  He then tells AD Curley.  He does not call the police.  And on and on and on..And again Sandusky gets off scott free.
The attacks continue. Sandusky continues to go free. No one wants to believe he did these things, because he's such a pillar of the community.
2005- The DA From the 1998/1999 incident mysteriously goes missing, and the hard drive on his laptop is destroyed when found.  He was recently declared dead, though no body has been found.  I remember when they announced this on MSNBC awhile ago, but never knew what came of him.
I mean he started a charity to help those poor unfortunate boys, who are probably making this stuff up because you know people in need make up allegations against such stellar pristine people all the time.  That's the sentiment of a number his supporters.  Which is a load of bull crap if you ask me.

Judge Leslie Dutchcot
2011- Sandusky is FINALLY arrested after a three year grand jury investigation.  Oh...but wait. The joker is out on bail... Hmmm...strange when he lives next door to an elementary school, has 40 counts of child sex abuse spanning more than a decade (probably a few decades...), and continues to receive a pension from Penn State. Guess what? The judge on the case was a volunteer for The Second Mile charity.  Funny she didn't reveal that little tidbit of information.
"When Jerry Sandusky was initially arraigned, as previously reported by Sara Ganim, prosecutors requested $500,000.00 bail and that Sandusky be required to wear a leg monitor. District Judge Leslie Dutchcot, however, ordered that Sandusky be freed on $100,000.00 unsecured bail. She ordered that Sandusky be freed and pay nothing unless he failed to show up for a court hearing."-DeadSpin.com
I am an attorney.  I believe in innocent until proven guilty.   I also believe in protecting children.  Judges have discretion in how much bail is set based on the state's guidelines.  This judge could have denied bail, remanded him to be held over until his next hearing, anything...

She didn't even require him to pay any bail.  He just has to show up for his next hearing.  Which was supposed to be last week, if I'm not mistaken.  But it got pushed to December 9th.  This creep gets to saunter around State College freely for an entire month.

It is difficult for some to even fathom that he committed these crimes. Think about it.  His personal persona belied the monster that he was in those showers, at those hotel rooms, in that basement room where he groomed his prey.  He was a charitable family man.  An esteemed coach.  A doting father with several adopted children.  A man like that would not dare harm children...

That's how he got away with his alleged crimes for so long.  Smoke and mirrors.
