Where do guys learn to be good men for their women?

How long I've known him: Since about 1999

How I know him: Family friend of my BFF

Topic: For the fellas: Will there be one to come forward to share with your brethren how to be a better choice for women? What can a brother do to be the type of man a woman should want in her life? To change her last name for? To give her body over to? To lend her support? To give her love and her all to?

I posted this question on my writing page. Only one guy was brave enough to answer. I think what he had to say is important. And the silence by many speaks volumes. While there are books, tv shows, and blogs that try to empower women to be better wives and girlfriends, the same is not true for men. Women are taught how to get and keep a man, but no one is talking to the men about how to get and keep a woman. Something has to give...

• WHAT HE SAID Be the man you should be all the time, not just when you think someone is watching. Strive to be the man you would want your daughter to meet. Be the man your mother raised you to be. Following your father will only get you so far in being what a woman needs. Your dad may be a great man but he is still a man, and we really do not understand women.

  WHAT HE SAID There is really no wrong answer. Just speak yor mind. I commented because it is associated with what I want for myself and try to do everyday. I want to be the best person that I can be. Only then can I share with someone else and receive their best.

  WHAT HE SAID Absoluty, I can attest to that. Or include others in it "you do it too". I always say to own up to it and accept the consequences whatever they may be.

  MsYBBG Exactly. I think people struggle with recognizing shortcomings because they don't want to be devalued. So they ignore or excuse them...which means they cannot get better.
