UNC vs Duke rivalry: Love it or Leave it?

Lurch and Mason Plumlee

Doesn't Mason Plumlee look like he was sired by Lurch from the Adams family? *giggle*

Yes, this pic speaks to something I hold near and dear to my heart: UNC vs Dook rivalry.  I know some people could care less about it (those people probably live in a remote part of the world with no internet, tv, radio or newspaper access...IJS).

By now you know, I'm a very proud alum of UNC Chapel Hill. It is the only school I wanted to go to. If I told you all of the schools that offered me scholarships coming out of high school, you would probably think I lost my mind when I decided on UNC.

Dook (Yes, I spell Duke, "D O O K" it's the only way...) was among the schools that offered me a really great scholarship coming out of high school. What can I say? I was a nerd. :) My daddy wanted me to go there, as he is a fan, but I could not stomach it.

UNC was my only choice. As a matter of fact, I told my parents that if I did not go to UNC, I would not go to college at all. Hey, it paid off. I received a full scholarship to UNC, and a lifetime full of memories and friendships.

That brings me to the UNC-Dook rivalry. I don't know when it started, but I've written about it a time or two. This rivalry somehow outdoes most rivalries you could ever imagine. Auburn vs Alabama has nothing on this. It is like the world stands still when the game between the 'Heels and Devils is on the air. Tomorrow is the second game of the rivalry for this season. Dook somehow squeaked by us in the first game at Cameron.

Maybe it is just me, being a fan. But for some reason, I feel like everyone has to pick a side when it comes to this rivalry. So whose side are you on? UNC or Dook? Or could you care less?

When it comes to the UNC vs Dook rivalry...do you love it? Or would you rather leave it?

Jay Williams cannot help himself.
He loves UNC too ;)
There he is with "Uncle" Phil lol
