Flat tires and other girly things
And I know nothing about changing a flat. I know that's terrible. But this is one of the very "girly" things about me.
I have never witnessed my mom change a tire and my dad always pumps the gas. I never really thought of that as chivalry, but I guess it is.
So I'm sitting in the tire store and the guy tried to sell me top of the line tires. Ummm no thanks sir.
I had no desire to buy tires today...I was geeked about saving money, then wham! An unexpected purchase. Oh well.
That goes back to the girly thing. One of the reasons that with all my tomboyishness, I have never been considered one of the guys. A guy's best friend, yes. A dude in a bra? No.
There are just some things I don't do. Yes I pump gas, but I don't know anything about tires or cars for that matter and I don't care to learn. I do believe women can learn those things and do well with them, but I have no desire.
The men in my life have always taken care of those things for me. Don't judge me. LOL
Whether it's a homeboy, my dad or uncles or man friend...they handle the car stuff. The most I do is pump gas and take it in for service. And I have no problem with that.
I could learn to change a flat, but for what? The only time it will come in handy is when I don't have anyone to call to do it for me. I know you're side eying me right now.
Think of it this way...you don't have to do everything yourself. There are people who you can depend on. If there aren't any people you can depend on, maybe you should change a few things and bring in some dependable people.
It is okay to need someone and stop taking on heavy burdens. Open yourself to needing people. It is fine to be self sufficient and self-reliant, but it is amazing to be interdependent.
Independence has its virtues, but interdependence will relieve you of a lot of stress.
Major side note: Smokers, please be mindful that not everyone enjoys the aroma of a smokestack. Buddy just sat right by me smelling like a stale chimney.
