Presidential campaign 2012: Cain vs Able

CAIN     VS     ABLE

So I stole the "Cain vs Able" thing from an attorney here by the name of Ken Harris.  His show Perspectives on 103.3 FM WGIV (http://www.wgiv.net/) is part of my radio listening that gets me through my work day.

The subject of Herman Cain becoming the GOP Nominee for the 2012 presidential election came up on the show earlier this week.  I actually thought about this when I saw him enter the race.

If you have not caught on by now, I'm a nerd. Seriously, I dabble into all sorts of nerdy things like politics, science, psychology... all types of things many people find boring.  Those things excite me. LOL

Anyway, one of my favorite books is The Art of War by Sun Tzu.  It was written as a treatise for the Chinese military.  (Yes, my nerd thing again.) But some of the philosophies in it are soooo apropos for many aspects of life.  Politics included.

When I was in law school, I was one of the captains of the Trial Team. Our coach told us to read The Art of War to prepare.  I had read it years earlier, so I knew exactly why he wanted us to read it.

So what does that have to do with "Cain vs Able"?  Well...it is all about strategy and out thinking, out planning, and out witting your opponent.  Basically being both ten steps ahead and five steps behind your opponent at the same time.

As I watch President Obama, I always feel like he's studied this book as well.  Why? Because I see it in how he methodically plots his moves.  Most people yell and scream about how our President has no backbone and how he should FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT.   That's what he is EXPECTED to do. But a smart strategist allows all of the rah rah rah...but does not make a move.  You allow your opponent to make bad moves, then you pounce.  Your first move will be a great move in comparison.  Most people do not think that way.  They react and act out.

I think about all the legislation President Obama has gotten through a very divided Congress. Many people have no paid attention.  Because they are caught up in the hysterics of politics they miss out on the strategy of governing.  Since this has come by way of argument from one Congresswoman Maxine Waters most frequently, I will lay it out like this:

On October 3rd, a person from the Dept of Health and Human Services will visit an HBCU here in Charlotte, Johnson C. Smith, to discuss the Affordable Healthcare Act it starts with a small reception at 5:30 p.m.  What a lot of people don't realize is that people have fought over passing health care legislation for sixty years.  Nor do they realize that certain states turned down funding and opportunities to make health care more affordable for their residents.

That's why I don't get it when people say President Obama hasn't done anything to help folks since he's been in office.  I feel like people are lazy and won't take steps to figure out what those things are or take advantage of them.   They get caught up in the rah rah rah.

Anyway, that's why Attorney Harris called President Obama Able.  (Not Abel...lol but Able lol).

As to Mr. Cain.  I don't know what his politics are at all.  All I've heard from him is the 9 9 9 plan.  A 9% tax on something a 9% sales tax and a 9% tax on something else. I honestly like the man because he is astute and has personality.  But I see something brewing with him if he is nominated.  Want to know what?

Here's how I see it.  The Tea Party could break away from the GOP to nominate a candidate.  If either the Tea Party or GOP nominate Herman Cain, it may be used as a device to split the minority vote...taking a large swarth of voters out of play...neutralizing usual Dem support.  Why would I think this? Well heck, Herman Cain said it in a round about way himself.

Think about how that little man with the Big Ears came in to the election and took a lot of Republican Support when Clinton ran back in the 90s....Ross Perot.

Ok, that's my political spill for today... Feel free to add your thoughts!
