Unless you live under a rock, you know All Star Weekend was this weekend in Houston, Texas. This marks the final year for commissioner David Stern who is retiring. It is also the weekend of Michael Jordan's birthday (he turns 50 today) and he had a huge party Friday night to celebrate.

The Stars

Everybody and their mamas came out to All Star Weekend. You can go to any of the celeb focused blogs and see the pics. But anyway, here are some samples of the attendees:

The Fashions

I love saying "fashions" after Dwight on RHOA said "How do you have a fashion show with no fashions," speaking on She by Sheree. Anyway. You can see what's in trend by peeping Dwyane Wade (I guess his name was spelled incorrectly on his birth certificate too like Antawn Jamison's.)

If you've read my blog, you know I have a hate-hate relationship when it comes to Dwyane's fashions. I cannot stand the clothes he wears LOL. Just cannot. He just did a number on me with his ensemble this weekend. He had on leather pants with zippers that gathered at the ankles like some old sweat pants from 1989.

Then Dwayne "D-Wade" threw in some Navajo print socks and all gold everythang shoes to boot. (The Navajo Tribe should have trademarked that print as everyone is making a killing off it this fashion season...)

Military cut jackets and pants are in again this season. I love the military style and jackets, so I'm cool with it.   Alicia Keys's son Egypt is stylin' on 'em with his little jacket.

I will give D-Wade credit, at least his pants fit and aren't cutting off any chance at his ability to reproduce in the future. And honestly, they don't look so bad when he's standing. So I guess I'm okay with the look, not that he cares what I think.

 The Dunk Contest

Terrance Ross from the Toronto Raptors won the Dunk Contest with throwback dunks including one of Vince Carter's, who graduated with me from UNC...when he came back to finish school after going into the NBA. However, the contest was not as exciting as years of old when super stars actually competed.

105.1's Charlamagne Tha God pretty much summed up my thoughts on this year's competition.

  1. If the NBA replaced the dunk contest with a fashion show they would have no problem getting the stars of the league to participate.

  2. NBA is a league full of hipsters.
  3. NBA might as well replace the dunk contest with a fashion show. Let all them leather pants wearing players Rip The Runway.

The rules this year changed, and the guys were allowed to miss as many dunks as they could in the minute and a half they had to complete their respective rounds. It was awful!!
