Five Years of Style nomination party

I dropped into Crave Dessert Bar for Charlotte Style Magazine's 5 years of Style nomination party in honor of the fifth year of 25 Most stylish of Charlotte. The nominees will be notified and put through a process to select the 25 Most Stylish. The April event will reveal the twenty-five.

The event kicked off at 6:30 with a number of guests arriving fashionably late. Guests included Shana, a local model who has modeled in Charlotte International Fashion week, Macy's Runway Show in Atlanta, for Deb at Carolina Place Mall and done promotional work for Bud Lite. She was there with her friend, financial planner Yolanderix.

Stuff I learned

Mayor Fox has issued another proclamation dubbing a week in April as Charlotte Style Magazine week.

There is a style card that is a rewards card giving you discounts at area businesses. You can sign up through Charlotte Style Magazine.

It is a small world. I ran into a friend of a friend and his wife. His wife is a writer, editor and blogger. She is the editor of the Lifestyle section of Charlotte Style Magazine.

It was funny running into him because he didn't recognize me with my hair down and my "event gear" on. He told me he thought I was much younger than he and our mutual friend, and didn't realize I am only a year younger. (Black don't crack...thanks, Mommy!)

I told his wife I would like to chat with her I want to bend her ear about a few writing things and such.

Style

I saw a lot of unique style while out and about at the event. Sequins and flirty dresses were in high demand. Saw a couple of peplum ensembles. The ladies also wore some fabulous jackets that mixed a masculine cut with a feminine touch. I actually wore a black tuxedo jacket with white trim and a sequined dress, topped with a black shirt to give it a skirt look.

Statement jewelry caught my attention too. From thick gold link necklaces to chunky bracelets, I loved it all!

Guys there were suited up, which was nice to see for a change. I met a young man who is a stylist. He styled my girl J Macks who currently rocks a brush cut and was out promoting her all girl band, The Bad Mamma Jammas.
