Tomboy Salute: Stephanie Ready

This segment is new to YBBG. Last night I had the pleasure of attending Hoops & Heels with the Charlotte Bobcats. I was inspired to start a new segment on YBBG to salute fellow tomboys like myself.
The event was the brainchild of Stephanie Ready, who is more than just a sideline reporter for the NBA's Charlotte team.
Ready is a former basketball player, former basketball coach at collegiate and professional levels, current wife, mother and at some point a real estate agent. Ready has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the sport of basketball and imparted that wisdom during the vent last night in her Basketball 101 presentation.

Ready even taught my know-it-all self a thing or two about the benefits of growing up as a tomboy. During her presentation, this message on one slide caught my attention:
- IT IS NO ACCIDENT THAT 80% OF THE FEMALE EXECUTIVES AT FORTUNE 500 COMPANIES IDENTIFIED THEMSELVES AS FORMER "TOMBOYS"-HAVING PLAYED SPORTS.
Stephanie Ready's Tomboy Salute: Thanks Mrs. Ready for showing us that being a tomboy teaches self confidence, builds character, and gives girls a greater chance at academic and career success. Oh, and it keeps you in great shape. So you can be well versed in hoops while stylin' on 'em in fabulous hair, makeup and heels!

Stephanie Ready is an American basketball coach who became the first female coach of a men's professional league team in 2001.[1][2] From 2001 to 2003, she was an assistant coach for the now defunct Greenville Groove of the National Basketball Development League (the minor league of the National Basketball Association).

Ready serves as a sideline reporter for the Charlotte Bobcats of the National Basketball Association. Ready was also a part-time sideline reporter forThe NBA on TNT during the 2006 and 2007 NBA Playoffs, and the WNBA Playoffs on ESPN2 during 2006. Also in 2006 and 2007, Ready worked as a sideline reporter during the first and second rounds of the Women's Final Four of college basketball for ESPN2. Ready is an alumnus of Coppin State University in Baltimore, Maryland.
