Michael Jordan at 50...not what I expected

His Airness turns the big 5-0 tomorrow. My fellow UNC Alum hits the half century mark, and I'm sure he'll do it in style. Well...at least I hope he will.

I do not know what happened to "I wanna be like" Mike, but at 50 he does not look a thing like I expected.
Now y'all know Michael Jordan set the standard for what it meant to be fine, tall, chocolate and bald back in the day. Granted I was a youngin when he was hitting the hardwood, but...I mean if it weren't for him, Al B. Sure look-a-likes would still be hot...

I thought Mike would be a distinguished older gentleman who could "still get it" like Dr. Jay for instance. Granted, Dr. Jay wasn't much to look at in some of the pics I've seen of him from back in the day. However, that old man looks great now!

He has that distinguished, in shape, older man look about himself. I know some of my more mature readers love Denzel, but I would wager that Dr. Jay looks a whole lot better than the actor.

So what the heck happened to MJ? That brother just fell off!

Trust me, I understand it takes a whole lot to stay in shape or get back in shape. I struggle with it myself. When you work for yourself the struggle is even harder because a lot of people depend on you, not just you.

But I would hope that MJ's fiancee, "What's her name", would help keep the brother in good health and looking good. One thing about his ex Juanita, she kept that man looking great! Now the brother walks around with mom jeans on and with a big gut.  All those cigars and that brown liquor has taken its toll, I guess?

Maybe not. According to USAToday, MJ Is still breaking ankles on the basketball court. Apparently he played a game of one on one with Bobcats rookie, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and beat the youngin' down:
Charlotte Bobcats rookie Michael Kidd-Gilchrist said Friday in Houston that 49-year-old Jordan beat him in a one-on-one game. Jordan turns 50 Sunday, while Kidd-Gilchrist is seven months away from turning 20.
"It was hard for me," Kidd-Gilchrist said before playing in the Rising Stars Challenge rookie-sophomore game Friday night. "I lost. He's the greatest man that ever played the game.
"Oh, yeah. He's good."

Oh yeah, MJ noticed how much he's changed physically as well (So it ain't just me :P lol) he's been on the slim down:

In Charlotte, he starts thinking about 218.
Every morning since returning from the islands, he's been in the gym. At mealtime he texts his nutritionist to find out what he can and can't eat. Ostensibly, the reason is that he stepped on a scale after leaving the excess palace of Mister Terrible and saw this number staring back: 261. Nine days later, sitting in his office and surrounded by basketball, he's down to 248. He'll claim it's about health, or looking good for his 50th birthday party. But in his mind, there's a target: 218, a familiar and dangerous number in Jordan's world.
That's his playing weight.
When he mentions that [fiancée] Yvette [Prieto] never saw him play basketball, he says, "She never saw me at 218." On the wall of his office there's a framed photograph of him as a young man, rising toward the rim, legs pulled up near his chest, seeming to fly. He smiles at it wistfully. "I was 218," he says.
