BET's The Game: Episode 4 RECAP

It was all good just a week ago.

Hosea Chanchez plays Malik Wright

Tasha Mack: Tasha is in the kitchen with her maid trying to show her how to clean the stove. She says she doesn't want old meat mixed in with her new meat.  She see's the report on Malik's arrest.

Derwin:  He's walking into the room in a grey t-shirt and the report comes across the T.V. that Malik was arrested.

Jason Pitts: Jason is at the club with yet another chick (what is going on with J-Pitts? He's just ho-ing around isn't he? Where is Camille aka Stacy Dash?) and he sees the report about Malik's arrest.

Malik and the Sabers owner:  Malik is in the office with Sabers owner and some guy gassing him up.  They watch the Sheriff having a press conference about Malik's arrest.  The Sheriff said no one is above the law.  The Sabers owner tells Malik he has nothing to fear.  The Sheriff, judge and other law enforcement officials protect the city's stars.  The owner tells Malik not to make any statements.  Meanwhile Malik is tweetin' "I'm free bastards."

Malik and Jason:  Jason shows up at the Sabers office and he tells Malik he has his back, as long as he gives him an exclusive on the story. Malik is like ummm yeah...holla at my back as I go to take a leak.

Malik and Tasha:  Tasha comes up yelling for Malik.  Malik is getting a massage.  Tasha tells him she's walked a country mile trying to get to him, and asked Malik if she passed a starbucks coming up there.  He said yep.  Tasha asks him if he's got all the public relations details in place...an awards show to cry in front of like Chris Brown, his daddy doing a tight background melodramatic commercial like Tiger Woods...etc.  Malik says his people have it.  And asks Tasha why she's worried about it, she should be working for Derwin.  Tasha said he'll always be her baby and she'll always think of him first.

Tasha and Derwin:  Derwin steps up to Malik's house, and Tasha was like what are you doing here? you don't need to be around this ol' stupid cop beater Malik Wright.  Derwin says, Tasha, what are you saying? that's your son! LOL Tasha switches back and forth between her mama hat and her manager hat. (It is hilarious!!!! She goes into a split personality diddy that will have you rollin!!). Mama hat "Derwin that's my baby, and I appreciate you being here for him.  That's a real true friend." Manager hat "Go on now...Get out of here. You don't need to be around nobody going to prison!" She slips into her Sophia from The Color Purple voice and says "Go on now...get outta he'a! Get outta he'a!"

Javon and Malik:  They are Malik's bowling alley.  Javon tells him no one had even heard of him until he shot himself in the leg (ala what's his face from the Giants? Dang...can't even remember his name...ain't that sad? LOL) Wow Jason Pitts is doing an expose on Malik.  Interviewing all kinds of folks.  One dude brought up when Malik punched Chill...ooops I mean...what's his name in the wheelchair from the last season (.  Then Jason interviewed a man and his son, saying Malik was a poor role model.  He interviewed one of Malik's groupies and she said she was sick to her stomach about it, but would sleep with him again.  And wait a minute! There's TeeTee...he spilled the tea saying Malik slept with the only girl he'd ever loved, meanwhile making sure the camera focused in on his wing truck Mr. Clucks or something. And wait a darn minute, how is Javon sitting up in Malik's bowling alley, watching the report...but he gave a statement to Jason too? That's some shady business. Of course Malik puts him out like Martin used to do Pam, Tommy and Cole... Get ta steppin!!

Melanie and Derwin:  Melanie is decked out in a lot of swag from Derwin's sponsors.  They talk about Malik's trouble and how Derwin should stay away from him.  Derwin says this life is crazy, they want you to put sponsorships over friends? Mel says this isn't about friends Derwin, it's business.  Derwin asks her if she's more concerned with the business or the swag. Derwin is all torn up because he doesn't want to lose his friendship with Malik, but he has to protect his brand. Mel shows him a montage of all of his commercial deals.  Mel shows him the Essence cover.  She asks Derwin if he's ready to give it all up.

Malik and Parker (the Saber owner's wife): Malik is eating cereal from a box with his face on it and drinking.  He asks Parker if she wants to go up to the roof to let the birds watch them have sex.  Parker says he needs to focus and go to rehab.  Malik says that the Sabers has him.  She tells him her husband is playing him because he has a clause in his contract that says if Malik goes to prison, they don't have to pay him and they can just replace him.  Parker tells Malik he needs to go to rehab.  The Sabers are looking for a reason to get rid of him because he's an aging QB with a bad back.  Malik stays in denial. He asks if Parker's husband has found out about them...they haven't been smart with hiding the affair. She says no...that's not it. He says fine, lets pack my bags, and I'll go to another team.  Parker tells him no other team wants him. He throws the liquor bottle in the pool and screams "I'm not an addict!!!" And storms off.

Malik and Jason on Benched:  Jason is being extra foolish, talking about you have experienced pain only felt by livestock.  Malik was like what are you talking about? Jason said you got shocked with a cattle prod.  Malik was like this is foul.  I was just a black man looking for some chicken and some lemonade, and the officer started trippin! Malik says I know it is a cliche...but that's all! I'm nto an alcoholic! Jason said, what? There wasn't a watermelon truck around? Malik goes off saying screw this bullish... I'm not sorry. I didn't do anything. Everybody is just trying to destroy me. Bump Officer Cook and the rest of them clowns. He doesn't need anybody.  He made San Diego, and they need to respect that. So bump the fans, bump his so called friends and his family.  He's done.  Jason tells the camerman to cut. Jason tells Malik that he's going to ruin his career talking like that...and that he's his friend and has his back. He tells Malik they won't air the show.  When Malik leaves, Jason tells the studio tech to put the tape in the arcihves in case Malik offs himself.

Melanie and Derwin:  Derwin is watching clips from the game in 3D.  Malik calls and asks him to come to his press conference looking all churchy so he'll be church looking.  Derwin punks out and tells Malik that his granny is on the other end.  So he puts Malik on hold and talks to Melanie about it. Melanie said she prayed about it at the four seasons and Derwin should stand by Malik and go to the press conference. Malik said he appreciated it.  Malik is sitting in the car when his bodyguard comes with some fish. He said this is not fish friday dog...

Malik's press conference: Malik apologizes and says he's going to rehab.  Tasha is in the front row. And he says with support of his family and friends... The camera pans over to an empty spot where Derwins hould have been... (ok, I got a little choked up...no for real I did! Derwin wasn't there!! How foul :( so sad...*sniffle*). They cut to Melanie and Derwin dressed for the press conference somewhere else. Melanie asks Derwin if he is okay with not being there. He looks tight-faced and nods yes.

I actually think The Game is getting back to how it used to be.  I'm regaining my emotional connection to the characters...Well at least Malik El DeBarge Wright and his folks...the jury is still out on the rest of them. What do you think? Is the season getting better for you? Or have you been happy from the get go?  Ooooh and I just remembered...it was Plaxico Burress that shot himself...lol
