Loving sports like a lady

So this weekend is the Final Four and all. My Tar Heels went out in the Elite 8, and sadly I discovered that three of our top players are leaving for the NBA Draft. (Marshall, Barnes, Henson declare for draft.)
Spring is somewhat of a downtime for the sports I like, namely football and basketball. But there is another sport that I really dig and always wanted to participate in: boxing. I'm sure I have spoken about this before on here.
As much as I love the idea of boxing, the reality sits in. The one thing I always wondered was: How in the world could I box and protect my face? You see boxers running around with missing teeth, lumped up heads, cauliflower ears, and all kinds of foolishness. Uh, yeah, not moi!
Somehow Laila Ali managed to have a fabulous boxing career and keep her pretty face. As much of a fighter I once was, I don't know if I could have ever been a pro boxer. Boxing takes a lot of work. I know because I attempted a boxing workout at Dyme Boxing, and plan to go back. (Yes, I have been planning for a while...but that first work out was a killer! LOL)
But...before I go. I want to get some at home boxing equipment, and run a few thousand miles. Ha! You can actually buy a heavy bag with a punching bag stand for home use. I looked for one when I lived in Durham, but never quite followed through on the purchase.
Trying to figure out which bag and which punching bag stand to buy has been confusing. There is one type of bag that comes with its own stand. Then there is a punching bag stand that has stations. It looks like one of those work out centers that you see on the infomercials. I think I want that particular stand because it has a leg lift section, a heavy bag section and a speed bag section.
Before I go back to that darn boxing class, I want to be in half way decent shape. Ha! I just have to figure out how to balance my tomboy side with my ladylike side. Laila does it. Shoot, she even has products out to maintain her pretty.
