My homegirl Nadia hit me up a couple of weeks ago to say that a friend with a handbag line would be in my city soon. Nad and I attended law school together and worked together afterwards. Nneka Saran held a trunk show in NODA, the art district in Charlotte, on Saturday. Nad and Nneka attended Hampton together, prior to Nneka transferring to VCU for undergrad.

Who knew I was in for quite the fab experience?! Nneka Saran handbags have quite a following, and have been seen clutched by stars like Eve, Tichina Arnold, Marsha Ambrious and newly minted reality star, Yandy Smith. And shut your mouth! Even style guru extraordinaire, June Ambrous has held tight to a Nneka Saran bag! 

Nneka was as sweet as she was fabulous.  She's designed handbags since 2005.  Although her bags can be seen on the scene with celebs, she doesn't feel like she has "arrived" and remains a very humble spirit. She even gives a portion of her profits to charities benefiting women. 

These bags have cute names like "red hot", "Uptown mini",
and "chaos".
