YBBG Spring cleaning

If there is something I like, I hold onto it. If there is something I don't like like, I discard it.  I struggle reversing the actions.

But...I decided to Spring clean anyway.  I do this every year, so I don't know why it is such a big deal. Well this Spring cleaning episode, I was transported down memory lane...

MY AAU T-shirt

1994 AAU T-shirt
I pulled this out of a box and laughed.  It is almost twenty years later and this t-shirt has stood the test of time.  I love basketball, as you can probably tell by reading here. So this shirt brought delight and sadness. Ahhh fond memories. And DANG...I'm getting older...lol

The my favorite t-shirt shirt
Penny Hardaway was big time...Lil Penny was
even bigger time.

I was in Greensboro, North Carolina at the Four Seasons Mall when I bought this shirt at a sports store. Crazy that I remember that, right? And I LOVED this t-shirt.  I don't know if you all remember Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway, but he played for the Orlando Magic in the 90s and he was pretty dope. I loved heeeeeeeee.... LOL This t-shirt comes from ad campaign featuring Penny and Lil Penny.  I think Chris Rock did the voice for Lil Penny.

The what was I thinking wearing something like this shirt
This lil shirt was for the hot weather of course

As I dug more deeply in the boxes, I found a lot of clothes from Wet Seal and Charlotte Rousse. Let me  just say that this shirt is actually sheer, and those holes in the faux suede are in inappropriate areas... LOL SMH I cannot tell you how many hours my homegirls and I spent on shopping trips.  Nor can I release images of what we wore back then.  (Decidedly, we'd look like nuns compared to what people wear in public these days...) LOL... We're all grown now so....

The lead the freshmen down the right path shirt

My UNC orientation t-shirt

I love my alma mater.  So much so that I would dedicate time each year to guide new UNC students around campus and teaching them the ways of Tar Heel nation. I actually met some of my younger homeboys when I was their counselor.  Lord knows they needed guidance. They all turned out well..some became pillars of the community, one even a Super Bowl champ... HA! When they read this they will probably roll over laughing...

The ghost of boyfriends' past shirt

The t-shirt won by one of my college beaus

Now, I might have to tell you that I'm cool with 90% of the guys I have dated... So the guy who this shirt belonged to will see this. He probably forgot that he gave it to me.  I attended his flag football game at some point, and they won these t-shirts for coming in second place in the state. He gave his to me. I completely forgot I had it.  Hey dude, do you want it back? LOL

CONCLUSION

Instead of holding onto all of these items, I decided to take pictures of them and keep those as memories.   Right now they are in either a throw away bag or a giveaway bag.  Isn't it crazy how you hold onto things like this...as though they are what hold the memories?

Do you spring clean each year? Are there some sentimental pieces you cannot part ways with?
