Revival of the lady and gentleman

There was a time when ladies and gents did not have certain discussions in mixed company.  Ladies would not cat fight in public, and gents would stand up for a lady's honor.

Older ladies reminded girls not to show much skin, and older gents reminded boys not to put their hands on women.

But even in those times bad boys were sexy and bad girls were icons... think of James Dean, Billy Dee Williams and Marilyn Monroe... Yet they were still taboo.  Then there was Dylan from 90210 and Axel Rose from Guns N Roses.  "Tupac with a degree" became the desire of many women as time went on... But Tupac didn't have a degree...and Tupac was never a thug... Think about it...did he sell dope? No? Did he rob anybody? Uh uhn... He wrote poetry and went to a performing arts school!!

Men used to be in love with the girly good girls.  They wanted Marsha Brady and Thelma from Good Times.  They were not dropping their panties and bustin' it loose.  Then up pops Madonna's raggedy arse and changed the game. LOL Now porn stars are household names.

In what world is dressing like
a strumpet okay?
It seems like everything out there is bad boy, bad girl inspired. Women are told to put their hands on men.  Skin is in.  And F bombs drop like pleasantries in front of any and everybody.

Girls are aspiring to be like Evelyn Lozada from Basketball Wives and boys want to be the next Lil Wayne. Terrible. Expensive trashy clothes and luxury cars don't mean you have good character or class.

Think about it... Evelyn is vulgar, dresses like a tramp, throws things, and jumps on tables like a wild animal; yet got the so called love and adoration from a guy who buys her a Maserati for her birthday.  What girls are learning these days is that material possessions mean you're winning.  So they mimic what they see, when what they see gets those material possessions.

Even the once publicly "religious" guys like Mel Gibson and Deion Sanders are having run ins with adultery, violence, and basic relationship drama.

What will it take to get gentleman and ladies back in the forefront?  When will little girls get to focus on being like Michelle Obama who carries herself well.  What about little boys wanting to emulate guys like Anthony Hamilton, who sing about love and relationships and not sex and one night stands?

Why not model the life of a basketball wife after Tamia and Grant Hill instead of the tragedy that is seen on VH1 all the time?

What's funny is, a lot of women would really love it if a guy would behave gentlemanly.  But those same women bait the hook with hooker like behavior in order to get a man's attention.

On the flip side, guys see thugs, bad boys, and derelicts getting all the women.  So what do you think they will do? Behave the way women respond of course.

I had this guy who is a party promoter tell me that he prefers women worthy of courting, but he's just  biding his time with girls who don't require it. I guarantee you the loose chicks he deals with don't know that though.  (Well...they probably do now, if they read my article on Courting vs Dating...)

But you have to develop habits and behaviors that become part of your character, if you wanted to be treated like a lady or a gentleman.

I mean who really wants to fight all the time or live in fear of being cheated on or having your windows busted? That's just tacky and no way to live.  And at some point you gotta put some dang clothes on and stop looking like a street walker or corner boy.

I do see glimmers of hope.  The gentleman "look" is coming back into fashion...now let's hope that the gentleman behavior follows. Even rapper Trina is changing her style. What will it take to make being ladies and gentleman popular?
