Dear Marco Rubio: Senators who do not read bills should be paid by lobbyists not taxpayers

Marco Rubio admitted to Chris Wallace of Fox News that he has not read the proposed gun legislation that he is out lobbying against.

This is an issue that should be dealt with immediately. Oftentimes, political talking heads get out and just talk without doing any real work. If you take a job in Congress and you get paid a salary, you need to work. Which means, you sit down and read legislation, write legislation, debate and analyze legislation.

You are not a spokesperson for lobbyists or particular groups, you are an employee of taxpayers. No matter which taxpayers got you there, we are all paying you. If you cannot take the time to do your intended job, you should be fired.

If you really want to get into how tax dollars are spent, that is one place to go to. Congressional salaries are out of this world. Nancy Pelosi fought against having those wages cut. She should have got a pay cut just for that alone.

We as US citizens have every right to evaluate the work of our employees and cut them jokers in times of incompetence.
