Mike Rice goes in on Rutgers basketball players, father whoops daughters for twerkin'

Mike Rice is the coach (for now) of Rutgers University men's basketball team. He was suspended a few days for abusing players and using alleged slurs to address the players.

Now let me say this, if you watch the video above, I see what they are talking about with throwing basketballs at players. And he kicked one in the butt.

Some of what he does, I have seen often in the sports world. Shoot they talk to military dudes like this in basic training. As far as the slurs are concerned. Here's my thing, having someone from the LGBT community or whatever come on and talk about how this is affecting homosexuals bugs the heck out of me.

You're up here talking about people who may or may not be on the team, and said little about how it is affecting the kids who were actually the targets. SITCHOARSE down somewhere.

Have I been cursed at by some coaches? Yes. One in particular. She also threw a clipboard. But had the broad ever put her hands on me, it would have been a different story. However, some things are just a manner of shaking kids up and toughening them up.

Outside of the sports world it looks worse than it actually is. Y'all remember Bobby Knight choking the kid out? LOL To me, THAT was abuse.

Is it abuse?

Mike Rice is accused of abusing players.
Oh goodness, I have had to address this question a few times this week. After the tape of the father whoopin' his daughters for twerking showed up, people were outraged over it. They said it was abuse and children should never be beaten.

I took some heat for saying in that instance I did not think it was abuse, and that people should not be quick to label folks as abusive based on seconds from a videotape.

That did not go over too well.

In both instances, I can see both sides. I grew up in a house where whoopins were part of punishment up to the age of 11. I was never whooped with anything other than a belt or switch. I was never slapped, kicked, punched or hit in the face. Nor do I recall a time that my parents ever whooped me when they were mad.

My whoopins always came with "talking to", that explained the offensive behavior, and why I should not do it. Now, do I think all of my whoopins were deserved? Heck no! LOL. Do I think some of them were? Yep.
