Spa facial at home with Butters-N-Bars and Oil of Olay

When you go to the spa for a facial, they take you through several steps of cleansing. They clean your face, steam your face, extract black heads and apply a mask. (Check out 10 Steps Of A Spa Facial). The good ones also give you a massage during the facial.

It has been a while since I had a spa facial. I could really go for one right now, but have not had the time. My food allergies cause me to break out really badly. So not taking time to care for my skin leaves me looking a mess.

The spa facial I really want is fairly expensive and I'm trying to do better with my money. What should you do when you want to keep your money and look cute at the same time?
DIY your own beauty treatment. So here's my DIY facial...

So that's what I am doing today. With the help of some items from Butters-N-Bars* (African Black Soap and French Green Cucumber & Mint Facial Masque), Oil of Olay (Pro-X exfoliating brush), Burt's Bees (Soap Bark & Chamomile Deep Cleanse, Natural Acne Solution Toner), a big bowl of hot water and a towel for steaming, and Bio-Oil.

Steps

1. Tie back my fro (okay, I don't have a fro fro, but ya know...)

2. Wash and sanitize my hands (cannot have dirty hands trying to do a clean face)

3. Wash my face with African Black Soap

4. Exfoliate with Soap Bark & Chamomile deep cleanse mixed with baking soda, using the Pro-X exfoliating brush.

5. Steaming my face. I will drop some eucalyptus oil into a bowl of hot water and cover my head with a towel while allowing the steam to come up into my face, opening up my pores.

6. Extraction... this is the hard part. You have to remove black heads without disrupting the skin. So I'll use towelettes to try to remove the blackheads.

7. Apply the masque from Butters-N-Bars (I've tested it out. It dries really quickly and must be refrigerated after use.)

8. Toner

9. Bio Oil

10. Smile :)

I know it seems like a lot of products, but the thing is, you get to keep them and use them repeatedly. Just make sure you change your brush for the Oil of Olay Pro-X and keep it clean.

What he said: When asked about women and make up--"Guys don't really care about blemishes as much as women think. If you're pretty you're just pretty. If you aren't you aren't. All makeup does is hide bad skin."-S.G.

Do you have your own at home beauty treatments? What do you do? What products do you use?
