Front Porch ice cream giveaway

  FRONT PORCH, CAROLINA CHURNED
ICE CREAM IN 15 FLAVORS
Front Porch Carolina Churned Ice Cream
in fridge at Food Lion.
I tried out two flavors of Front Porch Carolina Churned Ice cream today, and one at Taste of Charlotte...I want to share their ice cream with you. Keep reading for the giveaway...

I picked up a true Southern flavor...banana
pudding.
It's hot down here in North Carolina.  That's one thing that is great about this Southeastern state...great weather.  I love hot weather, and with hot weather comes a southern treat that I first experienced as a kid in elementary school: slow churned ice cream. I tried some sweet tea ice cream from Front Porch, Carolina Slow Churned Ice Cream at Taste of Charlotte last week.

When I first had it elementary school, it wasn't that good to me.  I guess the person churning did not turn the machine enough because it wasn't smooth and creamy at all. Front Porch's ice cream was good. It was strange eating sweet tea ice cream, but it actually did taste like sweet tea, with little tea cake crumbles.

Nowadays they have electronic ice cream makers/churners...I can't say if they are exactly the same as the kind folks used with rock salt and ice and milk and what ever else they put in the churns.

I tweeted about Front Porch ice cream after my sweet tea experience, and someone from Front Porch tweeted me back.  I told them I would love to test out some of their fifteen flavors at some point. So guess what? They sent me two VIP passes for a free pint of their sweet treat! At first, I was going to be greedy, and not share... But then I decided to share with one lucky reader who has a sweet tooth like mine. (Check out the contest at the end.)

FLAVORS I TRIED

There is nothing more down home than a red velvet cake and banana pudding.  Look now, my mama makes the absolute best of both.  I'm not kidding.  People always ask her for a red velvet cake, although it takes a number of ingredients to make it just like my mama's.

Down south, red velvet cake can take on one of two flavors.  The first is a chocolaty flavor, which is present in Front Porch's Scarlett Red Velvet, the other is a more unique flavor that does not take as chocolaty, but takes on a flavor from the combination of vinegar, chocolate and cream cheese, like my mamas.

Front Porch Scarlett Red Velvet
I like my mama's version of red velvet cake better, but I cannot deny the creamy smoothness of Front Porch's ice cream in that flavor.  As a sucker for cream cheese, I appreciate how it is incorporated into this delectable cool treat. Now, if they let me know...I can slide them my mama's red velvet cake recipe to take it to a whole new level.
Front Porch Nana's Banana Pudding

I also tried Nana's Banana Pudding. It has real vanilla wafers inside... and everyone knows that is the best part of banana pudding. Let me tell you, my mama has this special way of making banana pudding too, and the flavor and deliciousness of the pudding itself is yummy! I won't give away that secret though. I think I like this one better than the Scarlett Red Velvet...but...

Guess which one I absolutely loved?! Yep! Sweet Tea! When I tell you those few little spoonfuls I had at Taste of Charlotte, sent me out of orbit!!! Ha! It was the uniqueness of it all that made my taste buds shimmy!

To sum it up, I think the cake in the Scarlett Red Velvet can be a little better, but if you like chocolate cake, it is definitely for you. I wish the banana pudding had bananas in it...but overall the flavor is good. Both ice creams were creamy and delicious and not all heavy.  I definitely recommend you at least taste the Sweet Tea! It is AMAZING!!! I'm definitely going to try other flavors...

My favorite ice cream is butter pecan. I remember sitting on my grandma's front porch eating homemade ice cream. Those were the best summers!
