Where the boys are...
Okay, this is an old song. My mama was a baby when it came out. I have heard it several times while watching old movies with my daddy.
Anyway, this song is appropriate because last night at a networking event, I had a discussion with a lady about where guys are and the struggle to date in this area.
Church
Last Sunday, the preacher said that the church is like a hospital...funny because my homeboy Shel and I had just had a similar discussion. There may be a lot of men in some churches. Not all. And many are already married. The ones who are not may be at a crucial point in their lives. Most folks in church are looking for healing...so don't run up in there with your thighs all out and showing cleavage trying to find a man! That's just sacrilegious!
Clubs
Most men with good common sense, do not go to clubs. They hang out with their friends at their homes or in small social gatherings. Clubs are for guys on the prowl. Or who are young and/or young minded. If you go to them frequently, you will see the exact same guys from the last time you went and they will see you. You will be one of the crew and eventually everyone has been with or been out with everyone.
Fashion shows
Let's be honest here. You know good and well, straight men are not hanging out at fashion shows. WTH?! Yet you get all gussied up and hop to it and hope you run into a guy whilst there. Now if you happen to run into the ONE straight man there, you're going to be lucky. But there are 5000 other chicks there that you have to bust through to get to him.
WHERE THE BOYS ARE
Men are in places that men go. Gyms, both recreational and fitness, sporting events, tool shops, Home Depot, Lowes, at people's house gatherings, concerts, networking events, volunteering, and political activities.
If you want to find a guy, go to places where men sweat or do business. That's where men will spend most of their time.
