Tonight I went to watch the Charlotte Bobcats' open practice.  It was a preseason five on five scrimmage.  My colleague over at Blitz and Glam invited me, she stepped away from football and into my arena...basketball!

Time Warner Cable Arena is fantastic.  I did a tour with then Communications Director, Michael Thompson earlier in the year or last year... Dang it has been a minute...I cannot recall when we did the tour.

A number of fans came out.  It was a family friendly event.  Coach Paul Silas and DJ Augstine were fitted with mics, but somewhere along the way DJ got rid of his.

We arrived during warm ups.  From the happy looks on the kids faces, there were a lot of festivities prior to our arrival.  After the scrimmage, the players stayed around for autograph signing.  DJ and the newest signee, Kemba Walker were the most popular signatures.

I laughed when a kid tried to hand Gerald Henderson Jr. a UNC cap to sign.  Henderson is a Dook alum, as is Corey Maggette. Oh...before I go. Let me explain Taylor Griffin's missing numbers.  Not only did the announcer call him Taylor GriffiTH, but some fans began to clown him about not having numbers or a name on his jersey.

A guy sitting in front of us said, "What are they going to do if he fouls or gets fouled? Yell, 'Foul on this dude...with no number and no name...'?"  Then BJ Evans who is Director of Basketball Communications tweeted under BobcatsBBallPR that Griffin was supposed to play on the white team, but got switched.  He is actually number 44.

If @Bobcats blue-white scrimmage, Taylor Griffin was slotted for the white team which is why he has no name & number on blue jersey!

I actually look forward to attending a game this year.  Or a few.  The tickets are rather reasonable.
